Niki & Natalie

What's your name?  Natalie

Do you have a website? Yes, The Adventures of Living, Learning and Dreaming!

Who is your friend? Niki

Tell us a little bit about your friendship: Niki and I met in 11th grade English class where we used to lay on the floor and pretend to read and analyze the Great Gatsby.  We rekindled our friendship a few years back and now rely on old fashioned letter writing to communicate.

What handmade delights did you choose for Niki?
One of the very first things that I learned about Niki is that she loves horses.  She's been riding them since long before I met her and has one of her own that she may just love more than wine.  I can easily see her sitting at her desk going through legal paperwork drinking coffee out of this mug.

Although Niki is from the Washington, DC area, she is madly in love with the state of Pennsylvania and thinks it's the greatest thing ever.  I especially like these magnets because they include her current city of Harrisburg, PA.

No lie, Niki is a big Nascar fan, with Tony Stewart being her favorite driver.  This bracelet reminds me of the 80's and I'm almost 100% certain that Niki would actually wear it.

Niki and I started communicating ONLY via snail mail over a year ago and in the process have both discovered a passion for beautiful stationery.  I saw these peony note cards and immediately thought of Niki because they're both beautiful, classic and whimsical, just like her.

My friend has a new interest in garden gnomes, so what better to keep that interest alive than bringing a gnome with you everywhere you go.  This fuzzy guy would be the perfect pick me up in the midst of a bad day.
Niki loves a bold pattern and she loves wine, so when you combine the two you get this gorgeous wine bottle stopper.

One of my absolute favorite things about Niki is that she is always looking for fun and unique ways of doing things.  She took our pen pal hobby up a level about a month ago when she bought a vintage 1950's typewriter to give her letters even more character.  I about died laughing when I received the first one...misspelled words, crossed out letters, words missing because she forgot to hit enter before it went to the next line.  Oh, and the best part was when she realized the typewriter didn't have an exclamation point.  That's what makes this pendant so freaking fantastic.

Thanks, Natalie!
